Visiting Texas: Extended Stay America Houston - NASA - Bay

Hey Butterflies! I recently went on a summer weekend getaway with my guy and the kiddo to Galvston Island, Texas. The island is about a hour and a half away from us so we decided to get a hotel room somewhere in the area so that we could have more time on the island while visiting Schlitterbahn and avoid having to rush.

Hotels on the island are usually more expensive than those in surrounding cities; we normally stay in League City whenever we're heading to Galveston but this time we spent the night in Webster, Tx.

saw that this location was recently renovated so I couldn't wait to see how this location compared to other Extended Stay hotels I've stayed at in the past.

I booked the "one bedroom suite w/ two queen beds" at the Extended Stay America Houston - NASA - Bay and I am pleased to say had a pleasant stay. I thought the front desk and lobby areas were gorgeous compared to similar hotels and it only took about two minutes to get checked in. I thought the astronaut covering the elevator door was the coolest thing being that the hotel is minutes away from the space center.

As I often do, I requested a corner room and extra pillows, both were fulfilled with no fuss. The espresso color wood flooring and cabinetry in the room entryway, kitchen, and bathroom gave the room a modern look that I appreciate. We checked out the hotel pool but didn't really have much time to enjoy it because checked in kind of late and after picking up dinner the pool was already closing at 10. The only flaw I noticed with this location was how thin the walls are, on the 2nd floor you can hear personal conversation throughout the hallways.

Check-out was smooth as well and because I booked through Ebates I was able to use a 30% off coupon that was applied upfront which is different from when I stayed at Extended Stay in Whippany, NJ and save an additional 1.5% just for using Ebates. Besides the thin walls which really was a major deal breaker for me, it was a nice stay and now we have another hotel option for our next trip to the island. Also, after checking out opt-in to donating your room keys (it's free) by dropping them in the designated container near the front desk, every key collected goes towards Extened Stay's 1,000,000 in hotel room nights for the American Cancer Society.
