Amy Winehouse was a British singer/song writer from London who in such a short time made an unforgettable impact on the music industry. Her musical influence included soul, rhythm and blues, and jazz genres. In October of 2003 at the age of twenty she released her first studio album titled Frank; three years later in October of 2006 she released her second album, Back to Black. Songs from both albums helped her gain recognition for her talents by people all over the world.

Music: The Music Walk of Fame Honors Amy Winehouse

The Music Walk of Fame recently honored the legacy of Amy Winehouse by dedicating a space on the Music Walk of Fame for the music icon in Camden.

There is also a life-sized bronze statue of Amy Winehouse in Camden’s Stables Market, not far from Amy’s old apartment. The statue was designed and created by artist Scott Eaton and features Amy’s signature beehive hairstyle.

Butterflies, this song was out long before I started sharing my world with you guys but it definitely would’ve made my list of best songs of 2004. This song was released on English singer-songwriter James Blunt’s  Back to Bedlam album is definitely one of the best songs of the 2000s. The only knowledge I had about one of the world’s most influential women of all time when I was growing up is that she got married A LOT, that’s pretty much the only thing people cared about. I recently discovered some pretty cool new things that I never knew about her. Elizabeth Taylor was born in the UK and later moved to the US with her family. She started acting as a youth and later became a very respected businesswoman and humanitarian. She became royalty, made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. Elizabeth Taylor was born with distichiasis (double eyelashes) which gave her naturally fuller looking eyelashes and another genetic mutation that caused her dark blue eyes to appear violet at times. Elizabeth Taylor’s unique natural beauty was and still is admired by people all over the world. Today, January 10th is the anniversary of the passing of UK born music artist David Bowie. For Bowie’s birthday I shared with you my favorite David Bowie collaborations and in the process I discovered two things that that I didn’t know about David Bowie. 1) He was considered a beauty & fashion icon by admirers all over the world because of his ever changing creative style and his very unique eyes. 2) David Bowie was a huge bookworm/logophile who loved learning, much like myself. One of my favorite artists of all time, English singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse would have been 36 years old today, in honor of her birthday I wanted to share one of my favorite songs from her. “Help Yourself” was a featured track on her debut album titled “Frank”. The album title was in honor of her idol Mr. Frank Sinatra, the album was released in October 2003. Check out the track below:

Butterflies, I’m so sad. An artist that I not too long ago discovered and sincerely enjoyed has passed away. The extraordinarily talented UK born soul singer and song writer Amy Winehouse was only 27 years old. It’s apparent that Amy was deeply troubled and struggled with depression for many years, which she expressed creatively through her music. Her unique beauty/vocal styles, struggles with depression, and admiration of New York rapper Nas aka “Mr. Jones” (much like that of my own) is what made her stand out to me.

Amy’s first album “Frank” was released in 2003 and three years later in 2006 she released her second album titled “Back to Black”. Even though her life and musical career were both short lived, she without a doubt made a infinite impact on the world.
