Movies: Red Tails

Red Tails is an American war film about African American fighter pilots serving in the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) during World War II, known by many as the Tuskegee Airmen. Red Tails was directed by Anthony Hemingway and executive producer George Lucas. So many people doubted the success of Red Tails but according to media reports Red Tails brought in over $49,000,000.

I went to see Red Tails this weekend and I give it two thumbs up, it was a great movie! I am a lover of history in general and since this movie was released just in time for the start of the celebration of black history month it made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Some of the leading charters in this film are Major Emanuel Stance (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) and Col. A.J. Bullard (Terrence Howard), Ray "Ray Gun" or "Junior" Gannon (Tristan Wilds), Andrew “Smokey” Salem (Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr. known by his stage name Ne-Yo), Samuel "Joker" George (Elijah Kelley), Joe "Lightning" Little (David Oyelowo), and Martin "Easy" Julian (Nate Parker).

Although I enjoyed the movie I wasn’t at all excited about the ending. The ending the directors decided to go with leaves you wanting more and more of an ending I was in fact expecting. Like most people I was expecting more of a here they were and where are they now type of film but in fact this film was more of a summarized reenactment of the adventures of the Tuskegee Airmen and their battle with racism and struggle for equality.
