Life Update: Setting Realistic Goals for the New Year

Happy New Year Butterflies! We're more than half way through the first month and I hope everyone is having a good 2017 so far. As for me I've just been kind of taking it easy; I'm always super exhausted after the holidays but now it's time to refocus. Like I often do, I'm keeping this year's list of goals small and realistic so that I don't become overwhelmed and give up. I've done this for the last two years and it works, I felt so accomplished each time I reached one of goals I'd set for myself, it's a wonderful feeling. For 2016 my main focus was my finances, I had planned to double my savings but that didn't work out. However, remember how I told you guys I decided to be more financially responsible after watching this Mark Wahlberg movie? Well I've been really staying focused on my financial journey and because of that my credit score has increased over 100 points since this time last year (insert happy dance).

Speaking of finances, I discovered the minimalist lifestyle in the later part of 2016 and I really love the idea of living with less. I think getting into minimalism is the universe's way of telling me I need to get back to my original plan because shortly after I began researching the lifestyle my daughter started telling me about how her grandmother (my mom) tells her all the time that when I was growing up I would always ask her, "why do we have so much stuff?" and I made it clear to my mom as a little girl that when I got on my own I would only have one of everything lol...that did not happen. I have loads of stuff, some things I haven't used in years so you can be certain that I'm looking forward to minimizing all the crap that I've collected over the years. I've been thinking about doing the "Project 333" wardrobe challenge and since I wear mostly black anyway I'm sure it will be easy for me to pull it off.

So minimizing my possessions, continuing on my financial journey and participating in my first 5k run are my goals for the year. Simple and realistic. I didn't go to church much last year or stick to my #12BooksIn12Months reading goal like I had plan to last year so I'm going to try those again this year as well.

Also, this October is Butterfly LifeStyle's 7th anniversary and since seven is my favorite number I'm thinking of planning something special but we'll see about that I guess.
