‘00s Music Spotlight: White Flag by Dido

Butterflies, so I’m in the grocery store today and this song is playing, suddenly I find myself singing along to the lyrics as I picked my produce, totally forgetting where I was for a second or two. Has this happened to any of you?

I’m not only a melophile, I’m also a huge logophile so lyrics are everything to me; there are very few songs with choruses that speak to me but the chorus Dido uses in White Flag happens to be a chorus that does. “I will go down with this ship and I won't put my hands up and surrender. There will be no white flag above my door, I'm in love and always will be.” The deceleration of unconditional love in this chorus is everything! White Flag was released on Dido’s 2003 Life for Rent album and is easily one of the best songs of the 2000s. Ironically she’s releasing a new album and will be on tour this summer.

My favorite lyrics on this track (besides the chorus lol)...
“I’ll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on”
