Breast Cancer Awareness & Fashionable Ways to Support the Cause

Butterflies, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and if you haven’t already, CHECK YOURSELF! A few things I learned from getting my annual Well Woman Exams1) like most diseases/mutations, breast cancer is hereditary and you should plan to start getting your annual mammograms ten years earlier than the age of the person in your family when they were diagnosed.
2) Insurance companies don’t start covering the cost of mammograms until the age of 40. 3) Pain in the breast is not usually a major concern to doctors when it comes to detecting breast cancer; lumps, discharge and any other abnormalities of the breast should be checked out as soon as possible.

Support the Cause: Check out some of my favorite fashion retailers below who are making donations to different Breast Cancer organizations with your help:

Pura Vida - The Boarding For Breast Cancer Bracelet is available for purchase at Pura Vida, Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is a non-profit foundation that advocates early detection and a healthy, active lifestyle as the best means for breast cancer prevention. In addition to the B4BC bracelet, the Pura Vida BCA ring and the Pura Vida BCA Bracelet Pack are also available for purchase with 10% of net sales of being donated to Boarding for Breast Cancer.
