Wellness: Lemon Water Detox - How to Make It & It's Benefits

Hey Butterflies! So we all know that most of the time living a healthy life is as simple as monitoring what we put in our bodies and staying active, right? When I was younger I didn't give a second thought to trying any of the many "lose weight fast" trends that were out, if it seemed like it would work and I could afford it I usually went for it. Now that I'm more conscious of what I put in my body, I look for natural ways to lose weight. I've been trying out many new natural weight loss methods in the name of getting fit and staying fit so I'm sharing another one of my "try-outs" with you. This one reminds me of the KeVita Probiotic Drinks - Lemon Cayenne Cleanse I tried awhile back, it's pretty easy and defiantly helps curb my appetite. I drink a glass of lemon water most mornings before breakfast and since I've been drinking it my body feels refreshed.

Reasons You Should Drink Lemon Water:

Lemon water has a number of nutrients that help keep us healthy. Not only does the smell of fresh citrus in the morning have a way of awakening your senses to get you on the right track to a productive day but other benefits of having a glass of lemon water in the a.m. include: getting your daily dose of vitamin c which is good for your immune system. The citric acid in lemons helps to detox the body by getting rid of toxins which is great for your internal organs as well as your skin. The fiber in lemons helps minimize hunger which in turn helps you maintain and/or lose weight.

Want to try it out? Mixing it is simple, I usually use the juice of half a lemon for every 8oz of water. You really only need water and lemon juice and if you don't want to waste anything you can toss in a few slices of the lemon you juiced. If you want to jazz it up with some flavor and more nutrients,  then feel free to toss in a few mint leaves, sliced cucumbers, or fresh berries about 3-4 of each per every 8 ounces of water. Stir and enjoy! Also if you're thinking about making more than just a glass keep in mind that after a few days in the fridge the water will begin to taste differently, especially if you left the lemon slices in. I normally try to finish mine within a week.
