May is Mental Health Awareness Month and to spotlight the importance of Mental Health Awareness we are discussing alternative forms of mental therapy. First let me mention that there’s no substitute for the benefits of actual therapy, identifying and treating the root of your anxiety or depression is the only way to heal. Until you are ready to start seeing a counselor, there are alternative therapies that will help you cope in the meantime:
Goal Setting Therapy - creating a guide to help you stay focused on the things you want to achieve can be both beneficial and therapeutic.
Music Therapy - this form of therapy is offered by licensed professionals and is one of my favorite alternative forms of therapy. Listening to music is a super fun and minimal effort way to boost your mood fast.
Writing Therapy - journaling and goodness jars are two of my favorite writing therapies.
Self-Care Therapy - take care of yourself better, make it a priority to do things that make you feel good/better.
