Visiting Texas: COVID19 Texas Impact, Updates, and Resources

We have all been watching in extreme awe and disbelief of what’s been happening in Asia and Europe over the last few weeks and the only thing we can do is stay informed and prepare. Whatever precautions our government is planning to take has to be thought out as thoroughly as possible and implemented quickly to hopefully minimize the mass hysteria, supply shortages, and the number of casualties. After being closed for over a month, some Texas area non-essential businesses are reopening but with limited/curbside services only.

Texas area schools have postponed regular classes until Monday, April 13th.

Sunday, March 15th, 2020
Per the CDC social distancing recommendations, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has put social distancing guidelines into place and starting tomorrow Monday, March 16th all restaurants and bars are to close with the exception of takeout and drive-thru.

Many have been petitioning for the 2020 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo to be cancelled due to growing concerns of the rapidly spreading Coronavirus epidemic. As of today it has been canceled.

Friday, March 6th, 2020
The Austin, Texas annual film and music festival, SxSW has been canceled due to growing concerns surrounding the Coronavirus epidemic.

Sunday, March 1st, 2020
Houston’s world famous “Be Someone” graffiti art located I-45 was changed to “Wash Ur Hands” recently as we brace for the spread of Coronavirus.
