30 Days of Thanks: Time (Day 5)

Butterflies! This whole time change thing has me legit ready for bed at 6pm. Lol, I usually go to bed early anyway when I don’t have plans but now it’s like my body senses the darkness; I can’t stop yawning. I’m more of a morning person and usually rely on my internal clock to wake me or tell me it’s time for bed so I’m guessing that’s why I’m super sleepy so early. In addition to being ready for bed earlier, it also sucks that it’s going to be dark before I make it home now but in the spirit of being positive for my "30 Days of Thanks", I do like that the sun is out earlier. I feel like I’m able to get up earlier during daylight savings and I wake up feeling rested so I guess it’s a good thing. Anyway, I tend to get so caught up in my daily things to do that I forget that we’re only given a certain amount of time to enjoy life...I always think about that when the time changes. I’m thankful for time; past, present, and future.

30 Days of Thanks: Self-Care (Day 4)

Butterflies, we’re four days into the “30 Days of Thanks” short post series and today I’m thankful for “me time”. Rhythm and blues singer Heather Headly could probably explain it better but in case you’re not sure what I’m referring to, me time is what ever amount of time you dedicate to taking care of your self or indulging in the things you like. I was once told by an ex-coworker some years ago that it’s impossible to take care of anyone else if you don’t take care of you; years later I fully understand the importance of her message. Being a wife/mom while working full-time and still trying to accomplish your life goals can definitely get overwhelming at times; taking care of your mind, body and soul is the key to being successful at what ever you’re trying to accomplish. To be honest I’ve been feeling really “blah” for the last few months, it’s been a tough task trying to get back to normal since the hurricane. Anyway, I enjoyed a few hours to my self at the spa today; I was able to momentarily clear my mind and just be in the moment. I’m thankful for that.

30 Days of Thanks: The Kid (Day 3)

I made up my mind as a kid growing up in a home where there was ALWAYS kids EVERYWHERE that I didn’t want kids of my own. Then I grew up, life happened and thirteen years ago I was gifted the most amazing little human I’ve ever known. I love her, she’s my best friend; she makes me want to be better, she makes me laugh, she cheers me up on some of my hardest days without even knowing it and it’s so cute when she tries to take care of me. Today is the third day of my “30 Days of Thanks” short post series and today I am thankful for my beautiful little princess.

30 Days of Thanks: The Guy (Day 2)

He’s an extrovert and I’m an introvert, it’s weird but it works. He’s my best friend, he let’s me be myself, he’s patient with me, he works hard, he makes me laugh, he comforts me, he’s unbelievable thoughtful and kind, he’s considerate, he’s mild tempered and careful with his words. We’re different in so many ways but alike in so many others, today and everyday I’m thankful for my guy.

30 Days of Thanks: Life (Day 1)

Hey Butterflies. So since it’s November and Thanksgiving is in a few weeks, I decided I wanted to do a “30 Days of Thanks” short post series. Often times it’s hard to see the good things that are going on around us because we’re so consumed with everything that’s going wrong in our life. Each day for the month of November I’m going to share something positive about my day that I’m thankful for. So... when it comes to sports most of my favorite teams are in New York ( i.e. the Yankees and the New York Giants) because I love NY but I’m forever loyal to my hometown teams first. Today I’m thankful for my hometown baseball team; the Houston Astros defeated the LA Dodgers and became World Series Champions for the first time in their franchise history. Go Astros!
