Butterflies! It’s been a long time since you’ve heard from me and I have a valid reason for that…life has been kicking your girl’s ass!!! Honestly, I feel like I’ve been on an up and down rollercoaster ride for the last few years but the last few months have been something entirely different. I found out last year that I have a herniated disc in my lower back which hurts like a b!t@h and is causing me a whole bunch of other problems; physical therapy helped for a little while but the pain/discomfort eventually came back.

So a lot of my core memories involve music in some way, which makes sense because I’m a music fanatic. Anyway I was listening to a 90’s R&B station the other day and this song came on and reminded me of a moment I shared with my partner and kid when she was just a few weeks old because this song was playing in the background that day and it’s one of my favorite songs. Anthony Hamilton is an American R&B/Soul singer from Charlotte, North Carolina. The song Charlene is one of Anthony Hamilton’s most popular tracks it was officially released in August of 2004 on his second studio album, “Comin' from Where I'm From”; checkout the video and my favorite lyrics from the track below:

Butterflies, for the last couple of years I’ve been celebrating the new year really low key. On New Year’s Eve I usually put up a few decorations, make some tacos, pickup cupcakes, and lots of champagne and bring in the new year from the comfort of my home. On New Year’s Day I prepare a traditional meal and spend most of the day setting my intentions for the year. How do you bring in the new year? Do you customarily participate in any New Year traditions or superstitions? Check out my list of the top most popular New Years traditions:
