Product Review

I requested a sample of soy sauce from Houston based Little Soya a couple of weeks ago and it finally came last week so I thought I'd try it out asap. I tried it as a cooking sauce and as a dipping sauce and it tasted great both ways and had no weird after taste like I thought it would. I really enjoyed it and the fact that it's a Gluten-Free, Non-GMO sauce makes it even better. Also, I really loved the little cute individual "fish" packets, what a neat and very creative idea! Overall to my surprise I am in like with Little Soya Soy Sauce, if you're interested in trying Little Soya for your self click HERE to locate a Little Soya retailer near you.

Disclosure: The product reviewed here was received as a sample for my personal use.  All thoughts, opinions and expressions are my own.

Beauty Trends: Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Collection

Hey my beautiful butterflies! So my sister gave me the Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Collection 3-piece starter kit for mother's day this year and I'm in love with it! I have been wanting to tryout some of the Carol's Daughter products for years (since I went natural in 2010) but honestly thought their products were a little too expensive for my budget.

Anyway, the kit includes a 2 oz monoi repairing sulfate-free shampoo, a 2 oz monoi repairing conditioner and a 2 oz monoi repairing mask. The box states it's suppose to prevent hair breakage by 96% after one use, which is a really huge claim. Some of the major ingredients in the Monoi Collection include: monoi oil, hibiscus extract, bamboo water, and hydrolyzed silk (yes, SILK). The only thing I didn't like about the kit is that the sizes are so small; fortunately I have short hair so it lasted a little longer and I was able to get about 4-5 uses out of the kit.

In the Kitchen: Finally Started my Mini Greenhouses!

I've always been fascinated with gardening and growing things but life's been so busy that I never really have time to plant anything. Anyway, I finally had a few extra minutes today to get the mini greenhouses started that I picked up from Target back in May.

Nicki Minaj Bares Her Breasts On Instagram

This should come as no surprise since we all know that this Diva-MC and self proclaimed Queen Barbie is far from shy. I have to say I admire her courage though, I don't think I could ever bare it all for the world to see but kudos to her for being comfortable with her body. Rocking a very cute powdery pink lipstick, the beauty and musical mastermind posted the picture using the hastag #throwback. Any of you ladies bold enough to do the same?

Tech Tip: #HashTags Come to Facebook!

Hashtags are the new rave amongst changes Facebook has made according to the Huffington Post last week Facebook announced that they will introduce clickable hashtags. Most of the popular social media sites such as Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Google+ have been using hashtags for a quite a while.

Hashtags are tags embedded in a social media post or message consisting of a specific word, term, or topic within the message prefixed with a hash sign that people can click to see all posts that are included in the public tag.

Popular Houston Stripper Miscarriages While Twerking On Stage

Butterflies, I've been seeing this story all over my social media sites and honestly I was going to past it up until I saw Houston in the title; I'm from Houston so anytime I see Houston in the title I start reading extra hard (lol). Anyway, different media sites are reporting that Houston exotic dancer @JhonniBlaze and self proclaimed "Queen of Houston" recently suffered a miscarriage while on stage twerking. Jhonni Blaze denied the miscarriage rumors via Twitter saying, "blood clots all it was, blood clots". I don't know about y'all but miscarriage or blood clots, I would have been both grossed out and traumatized had I saw/experienced this first hand. Either way it's bad, I really hope it was just blood clots and not a miscarriage and also just so I'm clear, there's no judgment from me...I'm all for living it up and twerking it out but I'm also an advocate for taking care. So if you're not feeling well go get checked out.

Fashion Trends: Low-Priced Fashion Glasses on Amazon + Review!

Brown Frame Clear Lens Fashion Glasses

If you're in the market for some fashion glasses and don't want to spend a lot of argent (money) then head over to Amazon.com. I was able to find me a couple of cuties (pictured above) for under five bucks each which is a really great deal compared to spending $20-$40 at a store in the mall. Happy Shopping!

They are better than I expected! I was very worried that they would be too big and over power my face and other accessories but to my surprise they looked really great and everyone complimented me on them. I like to think I have an average sized head and these fit great, not to small not too big and for the cost I think these glasses are of a very good quality and they are very fashionable. They come in many different colors and ship really fast; I received mines in just a few days from my order date.

In the Kitchen: Quick Homemade Chocolate Frosting

Hi Butterflies! So it's my guys birthday and instead of buying a cake I decided to make one from scratch and that includes the icing. Here's how I made the icing...

Using the ingredients below, combine chocolate chips, evaporated milk, butter and vanilla in microwave safe bowl. Microwave on full power for 30-40 seconds. Remove and whisk until mixture is smooth (return to microwave for a few seconds if necessary). Add powdered sugar and continue whisking until smooth. SPREAD WHILE IT'S WARM for better frosting results! You may also mix frosting via stove top. To do so follow the same steps about but use the lowest heat as possible, stir continuously. Also this recipe only makes enough frosting for one 9in round or a small square (brownie) pan, if you are making a bigger or two layered cake you may double the recipe.

In the Kitchen: Double Layered Chocolate on Chocolate Cake

My husband's birthday was this week and as a yummy surprise I decide to bake for him (he's a chocoholic)! I came across a cake recipe on FoodyTuby's YouTube channel that I wanted to try out and give it my own personal touch. I honestly can't remember the last time I baked anything (haha) so you can just imagine how interesting of an experience this was for me. Anyway to sum it up my Double Layered Chocolate on Chocolate Cake was a hit at the palace and I need a new mixer ASAP lol! ;-)

Top & Bottom photos on the left are of the homemade icing, right photo is of the finished frosted caked.
Cake Ingredients:

2 Boxes of Chocolate Cake Mix
2 Packages Of Chocolate Pudding Mix
1 1/2 Cups Of Sour Cream
1 1/2 Cup Of Vegetable Oil
2/3 Cup Of Water
2/3 Cup of Milk
1  Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1 Teaspoon of Almond Extract

Mixing & Baking Instructions:

Pre-heat oven to 350, add cake mix and jello to large mixing bowl then add all other ingredients and mix well. Pour mixed batter into two greased & floured baking pans (round or square) and bake for 25-35 minutes.

Tip:

Adding milk is optional, I did so because my batter was too thick for my liking so I used the milk to loosen it up a bit. If you are ok with the thickness of your batter then skip adding the milk. Because of all the added ingredients and ovens vary it may take longer to bake, I suggest using the old school baking method of sticking a toothpick or fork into the center of the cake to check if it's done.

Check out FoodyTuby's Chocolate Cake Video below...it's yummy and super moist! ;-)

In the Kitchen: Crock-Pot Tomato Vegetable Soup with Chicken

I haven't use my crock-pot since my daughter's 7th birthday party (she'll be 9 in October lol) but I was inspired by a fellow blogger and I had some housework I needed to get done so I decided to try cooking my favorite soup recipe via crock-pot!

Crock-Pot Tomato Vegetable Soup with Chicken

1 small onion, diced
3 ribs of celery, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
3 bags of frozen soup vegetables
4 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into pieces
2 - 14oz. cartons of chicken stock/broth
1 tsp. of Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. of cayenne pepper
3 dashes of hot sauce (optional)
2 - 14oz. cans of diced tomatoes
Salt & Pepper, to taste

Toss all ingredients into your crock-pot and cook on low for 8 hours.

Tips:

- You can use water if you don't have chicken stock or if the soup is too dry and add a little tomato sauce if the soup is too thin.

- Brown chicken on the stove before adding it to your crock-pot if you want to shave off some cooking time.
